Organizing Tip Thursday - Join the fun!

I mentioned last week that I hoped you would join me this Thursday and share your organizing tips. I have a few tricks I've picked up along the way but much to learn, I hope we can help each other be efficient and organized. If you're interested in posting an organizing tip on your blog, please link up below! Whether or not you link up I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

This week EmDee is working nights and things just get hectic when he's not on a normal shift. One thing that helps me keep things working reasonably smoothly is my morning and evening list. These lists include the minimum things that I need to do each morning and evening to ensure we're ready to go and/or to make the next day run smoothly. I first read about this on Flylady.

My morning list looks like this:
-Shower & get dressed
-Eat breakfast, sit Sweetpea's breakfast out
-Take diaper bag and lunch to car
-Feed and water the dog
-Get Sweetpea up and dressed

My evening list looks like this:
-Clean up after dinner
-Put Sweetpea to bed
-Make lunch for next day
-Sit out tomorrow's clothes for me and Sweetpea
-Relax before bed

When I'm running late or feeling stressed I go to my lists - I'm definitely a list person! What works for you when you're feeling overwhelmed or trying to single parent? I'd love to hear your tips!

I like your morning/evening lists. FlyLady was a bit overwhelming for me, but I am working on developing my own routine that fits what I need to accomplish.

I agree that FlyLady can be overwhelming - I searched around her site and found a few things that worked for me (like some of the ideas in her control journal: http://www.flylady.com/pages/cjmain.asp) and left it at that.

The main takeaways I apply to my life from her site are the morning/evening lists and a timed cleaning of "trouble zones".

Thanks for stopping by!

Those lists are a great idea, sometimes I just need some order to direct me in moments of chaos. I agree about the Fly Lady, I found ALL of her e-mails a little annoying, but her concepts are terrific.
Thanks for reading my blog!
What part of Ohio do you live in? I'm in a suburb of Columbus.

OK, now I have to think of something to post! I shall ponder this and get something up...eventually!

Flylady was too overwhelming for me, I got bummed out with all the emails and the constant need to wear shoes and shine my sink and so forth. I felt like I had a drill sergeant yelling at me all day LOL

Being a military wife I'm far too often the single parent, not just when my husband is deployed but even when he's working night shifts and 13 and 14 hour days...I just stick to my routine and keep things going the same, I don't change anything around because he's not there.

This is a great idea Steph...I may do a post on it later, have a really busy day today so I'm not sure if I'll get around to it.

Yes, Flylady has some good points, but overall the emails were too much and some of the things I couldn't do, such as dress to shoes around my house - does she not know how dirty shoes are??? I have crawlers on my carpets!

My best organizing tip so far is my to-do lists. They keep me in check. Is it alright to post more than one link in your mr linky? I could post about the organizing bills post I just did, too, which is helping me. Could even dig up some more ;)

Great morning list!
Well, I do think Fly Lady has great tips but when she told me to put my tennis shoes on....she lost me!

I don't have actual lists, but we have our routine. It totally messes up the morning if things do go like normal. Hope things are going well with you!!

OK, I totally dropped the ball on this one! I'm so behind right now! I will definitely try to get something organizing related posted this week or next week. Hope you are still enjoying nice weather!
